Week #22: The Last Week of May.

Besides having to plant our broccoli, Brussel sprouts, leeks, tomatoes and peppers, everything else around here has settled into what will be the norm of the summer months of watering, weeding and harvesting.....and canning and eating!

The chickens have been in the coop for over a week now.  We will be letting them out soon into the run now that they are getting bigger.

Our rhubarb and asparagus are nearly done, and we picked our radishes this week. We had a descent crop of all three this year!

Strawberries are beginning to fruit, and our brambles are flowering.   Our bees and other pollinating insects are taking full advantage of this and there is sometimes a constant buzzing as you get close.

Seed that we planted recently are already coming up in some gardens. Included are squash, beans, and the pickling cucumbers in the greenhouse. Unfortunately, our sweet corn is no where to be found and it should have been up by now. A replant might be in order.

The next three to four months will be incredibly busy for us with the garden, our jobs, and our big summer project...rebuilding and expanding the back deck. Stay tuned!
