Week: #28: Bee Worried

We are currently experiencing drought like conditions this year, though many parts of Ontario have it a lot worse with fires happening in central and northern Ontario. We had to water almost every day this week.  Not looking forward to the water bill this month.

This week we inspected Aaron's hive and found that, even though the hive is slowly being filled with honey, there is no brood present.  This isn't a good sign.  If they don't re-queen and start making brood soon, we may have a dead hive.

Marianne's hive which was pretty much devoid of brood the last time we checked, ironically is now starting to get brood again.  We will check the status of the hives again in a couple of weeks.  Unfortunately, we have yet to attain any honey this year...or ever for that matter.

We decided on Saturday to get out of the yard and take a leisurely paddle in our canoe.  We launched at Lighthouse Cove and did a section of the Thames River down into Big Creek.  Here are a few photos.
