WEEK #15: Roadtrip!

Well another week of cold temperatures, that is until Thursday afternoon when the temperature got up to a summer like 24 Celsius!  Our bees were out again exploring their surroundings, our 2 cats were out enjoying the sun, and we.....well we hit the road to Prince Edward County.  Aaron had a day's worth of work there and we headed east on highway 401 with the windows rolled up and the air conditioning on!

We stayed at The Waring House Inn in Picton which is highly recommended.  After dropping Aaron off at work Friday morning, Marianne went birding around the area including Sandbanks Provincial Park and found a few species such as  Long-tailed Ducks, Buffleheads, and returning Tree Swallows.

After a lovely evening at the pub at the Waring House Inn, it was time to listen to the weather forecast.  It was calling for snow, and more importantly, ICE!  In fact we had an ice storm heading our way just in time for our drive home tomorrow morning!!

The next morning after breakfast at the Picton Harbourview Inn we started to make our way back home.  We ran into our first bit of freezing rain just east of Toronto and after stopping in at Burlington for lunch it was slow going as it continued with sleet and freezing rain until halfway through Chatham-Kent when it finally decided to turn to rain.

Once again winter has made its return. Next week the forecast calls for more snow.  But we do have a sure sign of spring coming soon and they say "peep"
