WEEK #11: Chickens and Bees

This Saturday we had a sunny day with no wind so we decided to finally process the rest of our chickens.  In six and a half hours we (along with Marianne's Mom) processed eleven birds from start to finish.  To relax the meat, the chickens will spend a couple of days in the fridge, then it's off to the freezer.  We have exactly one month before we get our new chicks.

Our chickens ready for the freezer. We also pulled out a few eggs as well while cleaning them

Afterwards we went to check out our hives and they were quite active!  As we were walking around the yard you could hear and see the bees exploring. It got up to 7 Celsius, and it is supposed to be even warmer tomorrow at 11 Celsius.  However, as has been the trend, the bottom will drop out yet again with temperatures forecasted near 0 Celsius as the high for most of next week.
