Week #17: It's Go Time!

We finally got some more consistent temperatures this week so that means it is time to get out into the yard and get things ready for planting.

The ground was finally ready to be rototilled this week and with that Aaron also rejuvenated the long grass patches. We also pruned off the winter kill on both the bramble and raspberry canes.

Gardens rototilled and long grass mowed.

One of our previous long grass patches has gone quite weedy so we are going to turn it into a perennial garden for our bees.  We purchased from our local nursery some salvia, lavender, coneflower and bee balm to name a few.

A cleared 70' X 6' area for our future perennial bee garden.

Our bees have also been enjoying the sunny days and they are returning to the hive with full pollen sacs from the trees that are in bud.

Our rhubarb is growing voraciously, and our asparagus has started to come up this week.  Really looking forward to eating most of it this year!

Can't wait to eat these...even if they do make your pee stink..

The next 4 weeks are going to be crazy busy for us trying to balance both work, our mini farm, and for Marianne, the spring bird migration!
